Boll YMCA Activity Schedules
- Dates: 3/7/24–4/25/24Students learn:
Water Acclimation: Students learn comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water.
Water Movement: Students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water. - Dates: 3/7/24–4/25/24Stroke Development
Introduces Breaststroke and butterfly, while reinforcing safety practices through treading water and side stroke.
Stroke Mechanics
Students refine stroke technique on all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.
Student will learn to dive standing, build endurance up to 150 yards, pull and flip turn, breaststroke 50 yards, and butterfly 25 yd.
Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique, developing skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well being, and foster a lifetime of physical activity. - Dates: 3/7/24–4/25/24Stroke Development

2hFamily Fun Swim RegisterDates: 4/26/24Float along to family friendly music and a surprise game or two. Aquatic staff will bring out the toys and provide a fun seasonal out-of-water activity too! Who knows what fun will splash up!
Any swimmer under 18 years of age must take 1 of the 2 swim tests during recreational swims. Adults may be asked to take a swim test at the lifeguard’s discretion. Swimmers less than 48 inches in height MUST have a parent/guardian in the pool area. Parents must be in the pool with any child under 48 inches that did not pass the deep end swim test and must keep them within arms length at all times.

Accompanied by an adult, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence building experiences, while adults learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.

Water StaminaStudents learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance than in previous stages in the event of falling into a body water. This stage also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.
Stroke IntroductionStudents develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke. - Dates: 3/9/24–4/27/24

Participants will also work on improving their gross motor skills through running, jumping, and balance.

Where to park at the Boll Family YMCA
- Get the Park Detroit app from the App store for iPhone or the Google Play store for Android devices. You can find, reserve and pay for parking using the app.
- Visit parkdetroit.us for more info.
- If you don’t want to use the Park Detroit app, you’ll need to find a pay station or park in a spot that has its own meter.
- If you are using a pay station take note of the zone you’ve parked in, you’ll need that info when it’s time to pay.
- The Opera Theater parking garage is located at 1426 Broadway St., directly across the street from the Boll Family YMCA.
- The Z Parking Garage can be accessed from Grand River.
- ParkMe.com shows all nearby parking, rates, and distance. Be sure to check prior to your trip as rates typically go up on event days.
- Both are free in 2024!
- Park along the People Mover route at Greektown Casino, Renaissance Center, or other lots downtown.
- Catch the Q-Line at one of its 12 stops and take it for free to the Grand Circus stop. It’s a short walk to the Y from there.
- There is a SMART bus stop at Woodward and Clifford.
- There are DDOT stops at Woodward and Grand River and Woodward and Adams.
- Visit DDOT.info for detailed bus schedules.
- There is a bike rack in front of the building near the people mover station. Secure your bike and come on in!
