Earlier this month, we hosted one of 8 regional EMLE events in 2022! In collaboration with Greater Grand Rapids YMCA and Ann Arbor YMCA, we created an experience that allowed our network of staff to connect with peers, learn about mentorship, and learn more about our Y movement.
This year’s tour shed light on the contributions of multicultural YMCA staff while encouraging attendees to start mobilizing excellence toward meaningful change. Through educational presentations and workshops, attendees learned how to support the development of the Y’s next generation of multicultural leaders.
The all-day event gave leaders of all backgrounds a safe space to comprehend the multifaceted nature of shared experience. From breakout topics that encouraged leaders to identify and celebrate personal strengths to small-scale displays of the Y’s demographic makeup, the Regional EMLE affirmed the importance of multicultural leadership and the power of allyship. Through compassion and understanding, our attendees left equipped with the proper tools to assist them in their journey as leaders in our Y movement.
