Each year our YMCA celebrates a relationship that has lasted more than 157 years — a relationship between volunteers, donors, Y staff, members and program participants and we call this celebration Living our Cause or LOC for short. Thanks to 1000s of amazing volunteers working together we:
- Nurtured 100 Healthy Hearts by helping high risk individuals self monitor their blood pressure.
- Helped nearly 4000 Girls and Boys build confidence through our Girls on the Run Stride programs
- Created Caring Communities for 300 Children through inclusion programs at our Birmingham, Boll, Camping Services and the Livonia Ys.
- Exposed more than 300 urban and suburban teens to 21st century careers. We also gave another 1700 youth exceptional STEAM after school programming.
- We provided over 150 resident camp scholarships to help children unplug from cell phones and videos game and connected them to nature.
- We provided over 180,000 healthy meals to more than 1000 families from Detroit to Pontiac.
- We awarded over 700 summer camp scholarships to children throughout our region.
- We provided over 765 youth with invaluable water safety lessons throughout Detroit SWIMS program.
