About 60 young people from Plymouth, Northville, Novi and Canton schools who are training in the Girls on The Run/STRIDE programs participated in an event to mark the running of the first Boston Marathon since the bombing in 2013. The event showed support for Boston as well as highlighted Y values.

YMCA members are so passionate about the Y’s cause that they use their own time to raise funds. Bert Weening, who has helped send countless kids to camp over the years, uses a walker and is 86 years old, but it doesn’t stop him from raising funds at local businesses near Carls Family YMCA.

Families who participate in the I-Rise family empowerment program at the Boll, Farmington, Lakeshore and Downriver branches joined forces to raise money for families who are struggling. A team of 12 walkers participated in the Wayne Metro Community Action Agency’s annual “Walk for Warmth” at Ford Field. They raised more than $125 to help families…

The Farmington YMCA is kicking off the Annual Campaign Thursday with the Power of the Y breakfast, which shows the community how they change lives for the better every day. The Annual Campaign provides scholarships to people who otherwise couldn’t afford to participate in Y programs.
