Halloween at the Y! Join us for a spooktacular night of fun safe outdoor activities for children and families at our YMCAs throughout metropolitan Detroit during October! These events are free and open to the community.
Family Fun Day at Camp O: Test your courage on the zipline or your aim on the archery range. Join in a fun game, spark creativity with a craft , take an adventurous nature hike or just hang by the campfire together, there is something for every family to enjoy! This event is free to current YMCA Members.
Spark creativity with a fall art workshop!
Halloween Themed Family Art Workshops: Families will create Halloween inspired art together to take home while working with a teaching artist. Work together as a team to make something for the spooky season to take home.
Family Theater Games Workshop (Halloween Themed): Come out as a family to learn and play theater games together! Professional performing artist Kelly Petrie will guide everyone in a night of theater games aimed to get the creativity (and laughter) flowing. Costume wearing is optional but encouraged
Illustrative Journaling Workshop: Join us and learn how to craft your own illustrative journal with teaching artist Jovel Perez. Jovel is a fantastic illustrator, artist, and teacher who in this workshop will introduce you to creating your own illustrative journal. The workshop will be a combination of demonstrations and studio time allowing you to explore a variety of documentation methods. In addition to drawing, you will have the opportunity to incorporate writing, photography, and collage.
Watercolor Painting Intro Workshop: Learn to paint a landscape! In this workshop you will learn how to paint different elements of a landscape with Teaching Artist Marceline Mason. The workshop will begin by going over the basics, going over essential watercolor supplies and how to handle the materials.

Youth Sports: From Basketball to karate, volleyball to gymnastics, there’s something for your child to enjoy in a YMCA Youth Sports Program!
STEAM Nights at the Carls YMCA: The Carls Family YMCA STEAM programming will provide hands-on, project-based experiences that will instill valuable 21st century skills in the next generation of innovative thinkers.
Cooking: Participants will learn the basics of cooking as well as food safety. Each week will focus on a different theme and build upon what learned last week.
Youth In Government: This YIG program includes weekly sessions with a snack, legislative debate, critical thinking exercises, and entrance into the Fall 2022 YIG Conference hosted at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing.
Parents Night Out: Parents can enjoy some time to themselves with the peace of mind that their children are in a safe, fun environment. This is free to current YMCA members, children must be on the membership.
Splash into fun with youth and adult swimming!
Youth Swim Lessons: students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water. The instructor will work on individual skills based on your child’s level.
Adult Swimming and Lessons: Now’s the time to learn to swim or try out a water exercise class at a Y near you!
Family Fun Swim: Float along to family friendly music and a surprise game or two. Rubber duck races, ring toss, kick board paddle? Who knows what fun will splash up!
