On Veterans Day, Lakeshore Family YMCA hosted a ceremony to acknowledge and honor a longtime member with the National Defense Service medal.
George Schulte, a longtime member of Lakeshore Family YMCA, served in the United States Airforce from 1958 to 1960 and was never recognized for his service. Lakeshore Family’s Wellness Coordinator, Mark Losinski, who is also a veteran, learned about this and used his knowledge and resources to confirm that Schulte in fact deserves the National Defense Service medal.
“I am honored to be able to host this ceremony,” says Douglas Edwards, Lakeshore Family’s Executive Director, “anyone who serves our country deserves to be acknowledged and honored”.
