Don’t you wish there was summer camp all year long? Check out some of these fun, family friendly activities to entertain you and your campers during these wintery cold months!

  1. Scavenger Hunt: You can do scavenger hunts inside or out. A simple google search will give more than enough ideas! Search for hidden items in your house, bugs, acorns, toys, or books. The options are endless.
  2. Build a Fort: Challenge your child to a fort building contest! From old boxes to couch cushions to blankets and chairs, this is a fun afternoon activity that you already have the supplies for.
  3. Go Ice Skating: Get on the ice! There are local ice rinks (indoor and out) where you can rent skates at burn off that extra energy.
  4. At Home Science Experiments: Turn your kitchen into a lab! So many small science experiments can be done with materials that probably already stocked in your kitchen or home. Check out this “recipe” for bouncy snowballs
  5. Bowling: Hit the lanes at your local bowling alley. Make up fun rules like anytime you get a gutter ball you have to do a silly dance or test out goofy trick shots and judge which is the favorite!
  6. Crafts: Pinterest and Google have an overwhelming plethora of ideas for easy crafts you can do at home. Just put one of your child’s interests before the word “craft” and search away!
  7. YMCA Break Camps: Many of our Ys offer day camp during school breaks! Check your local Y to find out specifics on days and times.
